Narcissism of the Narcissist

Narcissist-
1. Excessive love or admiration of oneself.
2. A psychological condition characterized by self-preoccupation, lack of empathy, and unconscious deficits in self-esteem.

However much you try to ignore them, their comments and highly-opinionated views will always get to you. Finding a plethora of these highly versatile human-beings is never too difficult. At a meeting? Look at the person judging you for your style of speech. At the mall? That lady loves the look of utter confusion as you cannot lead yourself to that store your friend spoke of, highly. Though a highly ignored aspect of the human condition, it is exceedingly prevalent in most human beings. We, as opposed to other animals, are not very different as we may believe ourselves to be. Even the majestic penguins stare at their reflections while pruning themselves. The interesting question which arises here, is if the penguin is aware of its own reflection, or is it just an instinct to make itself more viable for its partner?

Narcissus was a textbook case of what a human, blind in conceit, could be capable of. Various scientists and researchers have pondered over such a seeming behavioral disorder. Though it is a deep-seated, egoistic, love for oneself that is most obviously visible in all human beings. Choosing to express it is the crux of the matter, since it is the division which differentiates us from those obnoxious, shoving and highly irritating individuals who we assume to have no moral righteousness or any sense of common decency. Human will has always been a slave to the innate ability of the brain to conjure up random situations which gives the person a sense of victory. However flawed, this is merely a device of the human mind to prevent itself from slipping into perpetual depression.

Sometimes strung along with megalomania, narcissism is a very much acquired trait as much as it's inherent in all human beings. However much it is criticized, it is sometimes a defense mechanism for the human mind from threats such as; a change of view, a new thought, anything which is not in their repertoire. All in the name of defense. Evolution has a very curious way of meting out differences. Narcissists are often seen as extremely self-centered, though in some extreme cases, it is actually a personality disorder. Having a severe inclination for their own beliefs to be expressed by the rest of humanity, they are often very much misunderstood. The funny side to this however remains, that almost all of us are hypocrites and are narcissists to the core.
